This science article tells about how blackcurrants have a positive effect on pist-meal glucose digestion. I find it fascinating that they say the portion size required is much less than previously thought (because I'm convinced the same is true for most of the beneficial effects of white mulberry fruits).

So, I made some baked spaghetti, today. Here's what I did:

I blended up a quart of home-canned stewed tomatoes from 2019 (including all the juice, skin, and seeds), with the following things: the equivalent of one or two bay leaves, a liberal amount of basil, extra virgin olive oil, granulated garlic, Himalayan pink rock sea salt, black pepper, paprika, about seven raisins, some ground mustard, some carrot powder, and that's it, I think. I blended it on the highest setting (besides mix, which you have to hold down) for a while. Then, I took some whole wheat spaghetti noodles, put them in a glass casserole pan (my oval one that fits in my toaster oven). I put the sauce on it, and added some water (not so much water that it would be soupy when finished, which is to say, significantly less than a quart; the pan was about ⅔ or ¾ of the way full). I mixed the water and sauce, and baked it for about 50 minutes on 450° F. in our toaster oven (apparently, with this kind of noodles, and less water than my previous experiments, it takes a lot longer to cook, but you don't have to drain it or thicken your sauce; previous experiments had pasta getting soft very quickly by comparison; so, watch to see if it's done before 50 minutes pass).

I was impressed at the flavor in the sauce. I purposefully omitted onions, parsley, oregano, and all that (because they give the impression of helping, but I think onions and maybe the others can actually hinder this sauce, even though in theory I like all of those things in spaghetti). I might have added celery, but celery can make me more light-sensitive.

Note that the spaghetti noodles themselves actually add flavor to the sauce.

The amount of noodles I used dry was maybe almost 2" thick of spaghetti when held between the thumb and index finger. The noodles were not boiled prior to baking.

Also note that we grew the tomatoes with very little water, and there were a lot of kinds of tomatoes canned together. So, this flavor profile might taste different than some tomato sauces would, especially considering the skins and seeds add flavor, too.

If you're confused about the carrot powder, it's just dried, blended up carrots (I made the powder a while ago). Maybe a fresh carrot would work just as well, but I don't know.

ScienceDaily article link

The above link describes how they studied people's stools and discovered that certain kinds of bacteria helped people produce active vitamin D. they supposed that supplementation and sunlight had little to no impact on active vitamin D levels, and that active vitamin D levels are the ones that matter wuth COVID-19 and other stuff.

What kinds of bacteria helped? They never said. They did say a chemical that those bacteria tended to produce, though.

We had beef pot roast, along with many of the usual Thanksgiving items, this year. It was good. We haven't been going to the grocery store, due to the COVID-19 virus; so, that's why we didn't have turkey. Well, I had turkey Stove Top stuffing; so, maybe I ate some turkey?

Question: Is activism allowed here?

Answer:

Often, no. The reason for this is because many of the tactics involved in activism are already against the rules. Also, some activism is political. If you can be an activist without breaking the rules, go for it.

Additionally, please avoid unfounded accusations, false claims, and lies in your activism. Please use sound reasoning.

If the thread is not an activist thread, please don't turn it into one.

Some kinds of activism are explicitly allowed elsewhere in the rules. See the rules about politics (with regard to organic gardening).

At long last, here are some seeds rated for zones 4 through 9, and they're very inexpensive, too! I've never shopped with this vendor (so, I can't say what it's like).

Here are some fun and/or mentally stimulating Android games for the Kindle Fire. I haven't checked out many new Android games in a while; so, these are all kind of old.

Kindle Fire 2:
• Bubble Shoot (There are a lot of games that are basically the same as this, but this one is my favorite.)
• Jewels Star (In theory, it's similar to Candy Crush Saga, but you're not limited in how many moves you get, and it goes fast; one of my favorites; I would play it more if it worked on my 6th edition.)
• Most of those in the next list

Kindle Fire HD 8 6th edition:
• Catan Classic (I play this the most, usually against computers. It's kind of hard to beat the computer at first, but once you get used to it, it's very achievable, even on the hardest setting. I played the board game version of it maybe four times before I got the app. Don't expect to play this app with people in-person, unless they're already very familiar with it, because it takes a really long time for new players to finish trading and stuff, and the computers try to trade a lot if one of the players is a computer and there are two human players.)
• Cut the Rope (and the others after it; I don't recommend ever using the special powers to pass levels, though; it's a physics puzzle game)
• Buttons and Scissors
• Cubistry (and similar)
• Dropwords
• Fireworks Arcade
• From Cheese
• Greedy Spiders (and its sequel; may trigger symptoms if you have adrenal fatigue that is activated by certain kinds of mental stress)
• Nexus Chess Online (fast and simple online Chess; no sign-up required)
• Pudding Monsters
• Ticket to Ride
• Word Puzzle for the Soul

I have a story for you if you have a moment. It's about prayer, answers to prayer, and grace.

So, one day (in the year 2011), I lost my little notebook with the voicemail password for my mom's phone. I couldn't find it. I needed it. I prayed for help finding it, but try as I might, I didn't find it then. So, I went on to do something else.

Then, I couldn't find my tax binder where I put a lot of my financial stuff. My mom didn't know where it was. I looked everywhere I thought it would be—or could be—but, I didn't find it.

Because it was still lost, I prayed for help. Then, I got the thought that I still had a lot of places to look, even though I really didn't think the binder was in any of those places. But, I figured if I did my part and did everything I could first, then God would step in and help me find it.

I began to look around in places I had previous neglected (because I didn't think it likely to be there). One of them was under my bed. It wasn't there, but when I turned around, before I got up, I saw a stack of things on a large plastic bin up by my window; I saw my tax binder in the stack! I felt it was a direct answer to prayer and a sign of God's grace. Then, I got up to get it; I removed a box of Legos to unveil the tax binder, and I found the notebook with the voicemail instructions (which I may have forgotten about) there with it! That was miraculous. I knew of no reason those two things would be there, let alone together (they were completely unrelated objects).

It was a cool experience.

I knew that God had answered my prayer with grace because I had been willing to do what I could first, even if it didn't seem like enough.

Sometimes, God doesn't directly show you where something is, but through grace changes your perspective so you can plainly see what was once hidden from view. But, we should be willing to get down on our knees, and look under that bed.

Disclaimer (added on 14 Sep 2021): I believe this post was added before the whole Republican party became conspiracy theorists coincident with President Biden's COVID-19 vaccine advocacy. Nowadays, I probably wouldn't have touched this topic, since it would make me look like a conservative (I have some conservative values, like I'm pro-life, but I'm an independent, and I don't believe in tribalism; this post wasn't directed at converting tribal conservatives to your own cause).

-------

For those who want to debunk conspiracy theories, perhaps the primary way to do it effectively is to establish trust.

Many believe trust must be earned. So earn it.

Stop wasting time telling people they're wrong, and why, unless your words truly, sincerely, do debunk the myths. There are so many 'debunked' conspiracy theories that are not debunked.
