I grew one of these last year, and it did quite well. Great taste (a favorite, in fact, right after Aji Fulce 1). About as hot as Cayenne (it's not a Habanero). It's prolific, and the earliest C. baccatum I've grown. Easiest to grow, too. Large plant (but leaves aren't large and stems aren't thi...read more

Costa Rican is doing decently, now. Not the earliest pepper, but it is becoming prolific.

I'm impressed with the Chipotle pepper. It's vigorous, prolific and early. I tried a partially red one today and it was extremely sweet. Even the spiciness tasted sweet. It was weird, but great. The fruits look just like Jalapenos, but they don't taste like them. They taste more like a mildly...read more

Here's today's harvest of Ancho San Luis peppers. They're smaller than I thought Poblanos were supposed to be.

This has been a favorite variety, this year. The fruits are fairly round and meaty (though they can get soft when ripened well). The plant is productive and not enormous. If you want a lot of salad-sized tomatoes in a small space, this would be a good variety. Fruits began ripening fairly early....read more

Here's my regular Mustard Bhutlah plant, today. It has two large fruits, and maybe a few that are just starting to form. The one with anthocyanin has a lot more fruit (and a larger plant, too): Here's the regular Mustard Bhutlah's fruits:

Also see this thread: http://www.growspice.com/Honeycomb-x-Torpeda-F1-tc496.html Some hours ago, I opened a Honeycomb F2 melon. It was very sweet (and good), except closer to the rind where it was darker green. It wasn't perfectly round, but unevenly round is the closest description. The rind...read more

We ate two small Ancient watermelons, today. One had red seeds as usual (maybe even brighter red than last year). The other was a cross and had dark seeds. They both tasted awesome, but different. Last year, I grew two spots with it (perhaps three plants per spot). It got bigger fruit last ye...read more

In 2017, I grew the White Queen tomato, got a few fruits, saved seeds, and yeah. they tasted really good! We didn't use black plastic that year; the fruits had drought conditions. This year, I grew it from seeds I had saved. We are using black plastic, and we aren't watering much. The perform...read more

In 2015, I grew Healy's Pride with black plastic, and got one large, netted, long, orange-fleshed fruit with great flavor. This year, I'm growing it from seeds I saved, with black plastic and a cage to support it. It grew at least four large fruits (larger than in 2015). The first one ripened...read more

Chris Ukrainian in my garden has stripes, this year (like Green Zebra's stripes). I ate a ripe fruit, today, and it was very sweet (I think a lot of things are sweet around now; Early Girl F1 is, anyway). other_tomato

Here are some Thessaloniki tomatoes that I harvested, seeded and ate several hours ago. The first and largest one tasted quite good and had some of that burned tomato taste to it that Matina had in 2017, but not so much that it was overpowering. the second fruit tasted different, but I liked ...read more

So, on 26 Aug 2019, we were out of regular milk. So, I decided to try almond milk on my cereal for the first time (I've had almond milk before—but not on cereal). Anyway, on the cereal, the almond milk tasted surprisingly a lot like regular milk. The wonderberries only contributed a very mild...read more

We harvested about four or five stainless steel mixing bowls of tomatoes on 26 Aug 2019, with more left to pick. We have our largest stockpot, which is probably full or nearly full, stewing them on low. The canning should begin in a number of hours (it's the middle of the night).

Our Jerusalem artichokes have been falling over for a little while. I guess the tuber-grown ones get a lot taller. They're starting to develop buds.

So, on 26 Aug 2019, we had some millet with carrots and hamburger seasoned with Maggi season (as well as pepper, I think). It was really good! I loved the hamburger with Maggi seasoning. I'll have to remember that. The millet was cooked like rice. cooking_ Maggi_ millet_ carrot_

I harvested, seeded and ate a fruit from my Amana Orange cross on 26 Aug 2019. It tasted awesome! It had great firm texture like Amana Oange has in the past, too. The shape is like the Amana Orange I grew in 2017, but the fruit isn't very big. I suspect that Girl Girl's Weird Thing was the fa...read more

This tomato was actually pretty tasty. It was like a much tangier version of Chapman, taste-wise, but the texture was different and more like those of my Brandy Boy crosses. I suspect that Chapman is the father plant, as it tasted like Chapman. Taste-wise, the only other tomato with a similar...read more

Here another picture of what was supposed to be Husky Red F1. This is a fruit I harvested, seeded and ate today. I suspect this is rather actually a stable matriarchal parent of Husky Red F1, seeing as the foliage is not rugose (it is regular leaf). The foliage is stiff like rugose foliage, thou...read more

I harvested the first Polish Linguisa tomato, today. It was over-ripe, but it was one of the best-tasting tomatoes this year, right up there with my two favorite Brandy Boy crosses and Marion! It smelled good before I cut it open, too. I saved the seeds for a trade. I'll have to save more for my...read more

I'm growing three spots of three different kinds of watermelons that each share congo as their matriarchal ancestor. There are probably three plants per spot, and each plant is probably different, too. Anyway, I ate one today. I think it crossed again with Sugar Baby Bush last year, since the...read more

Here's a post about my Corrales Azafrán safflower from earlier this year: http://vegetables.boards.net/thread/442/corrales-azafr-safflower My plants are starting to wind down for the season, by the look of it. They're falling over and I think the leaves are changing colors. I'm letting all...read more

I have a spot where I'm growing watermelon where I lost the tag. They're some of my largest. I'd suspect that they were Congo cross, except all of my Congo crosses are accounted for. They could be Verona, but they'd probably be ripe by now if so. They have dark green, solid-color rinds. One frui...read more

In 2018, I discovered that my Tom Watson watermelon was a cross (probably with King Winter). It tasted almost as good as Tom Watson, but managed to get bigger than both Tom Watson and King Winter had for me. In 2019, I grew F2 seeds and got three fruits. Each fruit seems to be from a differen...read more
